Description
Tots Messy Club is a weekly sensory messy play session for babies and toddlers aged 6 months to 4 years, held weekly at Jubilee Park in Leyton, East London.
Each week is different - foam, water, paint, sensory bins and other textured play rotate through the sessions, so there's always something new to explore. There's no set structure to follow: children move between activities at their own pace, for as long as something holds their interest.
This kind of open-ended, hands-on play does more than make a mess. Squeezing, pouring and scooping build the small hand muscles later needed for holding a pencil. Mixing colours or adding water to sand gives toddlers their first real experiments in cause and effect. And the repetitive, tactile nature of it - squishing dough, trailing fingers through paint - has a genuinely calming quality that many parents notice straight away.
This isn't a drop-off class. Parents and carers stay for the full hour and join in alongside their child, which is especially reassuring for a first visit. If your toddler wants to watch from your lap before diving in, that's completely normal - most children warm up at their own pace over a few sessions, and there's no pressure either way.
All materials are provided. Just bring a full change of clothes, a towel, nappies and wipes, and a water bottle for your little one - sessions are washable, not wipeable, so plan for a proper change afterwards.
Jubilee Park has free on-site parking for up to 3 hours, including some disabled bays, and the 58 and 158 buses stop nearby. Leyton station (Central line) is about a 20-minute walk, with Leyton Midland Road overground closer at around 16 minutes.
£10 for 1 adult and 1 child, £5 per additional child. Sessions run 11:00am–12:00pm weekly - come and get messy with us!
