SINGING MAMAS CENTRAL BEDS

Meet new friends, learn how to sing and enjoy a dose of precious ‘me time’!

What Singing Mamas says

Singing Mamas is a community singing group for mothers and their babies and toddlers - a weekly circle where you can show up exactly as you are, no experience needed, no performance required. Many of our groups also welcome women of all ages and stages, with or without little ones.

We sing together because singing together does something that's hard to explain until you've felt it. It lifts the room. It settles babies. It reminds you that you're not doing this alone.

Every session is led by a trained Singing Mamas Community Leader, a local woman who knows this community because she's part of it. You'll learn simple, beautiful songs you can take home and sing to your little one all week.

No auditions. No spotlights. Just singing, connection, and usually a cup of tea and cake afterwards.

Come as you are. 🧡

About

My name is Clara - rhymes with Sarah (Millican) not Lara (Croft) - and I lead Singing Mamas in Central Beds. I have been involved with Singing Mamas as a participant for several years, attending groups with Emma in Hertfordshire, and I have lived experience of how beneficial involvement can be.

In the midst of the pandemic, with a toddler and a newborn, isolated from family and friends, I struggled with my mental health. During this time, joining online Songline workshops, and then once lockdown restrictions allowed, singing with Emma’s group in Letchworth, Singing Mamas truly was a lifeline for me. Knowing first-hand the positive impact singing together has on wellbeing, my aim is to grow a community, here in Bedfordshire, for women to sing together, create friendships, and find the support network we all need, whatever our situation.

My background has always been in music and theatre, working for charities and non-profit arts organisations that champion inclusion and support wellbeing. For the last nine years, I have worked with Chickenshed, and prior to that I worked for British Youth Music Theatre, Mind the Gap Theatre Company, and as a freelance arts practitioner leading musical theatre and drama workshops with young people.
