Friday Free Pre-School Play
These sessions are supported through funding and enable Ready, Steady, Go Parent and Toddler Group to be accessible to all families with pre-school age children in the local community.
Our Pre-School Play sessions are for children aged approximately 2 years 6 months to 4 years of age. Through fun, play-based activities and toys, we help both children and parents get ready for their school journey.
School readiness is a measure of how prepared a child is for school, socially, emotionally and cognitively. The development of these skills is important because it can affect how your child progresses, performs and feels in school. To make the most of the of the sessions we provide, it is good to attend regularly as we focus on the development of specific skills each half-term.
The theme this half-term is 'Festivals and Celebrations'. Each week we will focus on a different festival or celebration from around the world. Activities will include: art and crafts, role-play, construction, small world and pre-school literacy and numeracy skills.
Our educational based activities will help parents support their child to learn to share, express themselves, listen to and engage with others, regulate their emotions and develop their confidence, independence and self-care skills. Over time, these skills help young children get ready for school. The skills are transferable and will help their development at home too.
All staff and volunteers leading the group have many years of knowledge and experience working with young children in local primary schools. The group leader works at a local primary school and has regular contact with early years staff in other schools. This link is another way in which we can help you and your child be ready and prepared for school.
On Friday 4th December there will not be a Pre-School Play session as Father Christmas is visiting the group on that morning. Bookings for this will take place directly with Angela Allen.
Please read, complete and return the 'Welcome Letter and Parental Agreement' on registration.
This session gets busy so if you are unable to attend please email Angela Allen and she will cancel your booking. Your place can then be given to another family.
