FUNKY CHEEKY MONKEYS

Grow Bilingue Spanish Club offers an interactive and fun programme in which children acquire essential notions of the Spanish language through music. The children will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a stimulating environment where music, songs and games will create a solid introduction to the Spanish language at an early stage. This programme has been thought for young children(KS1) but it could also be adapted for older students as it is very dynamic and aims at creating a solid grounding for the learning of the Spanish language.

We currently teach Musical Spanish Club at Sheringdale Primary School where I deliver dynamic classes to students from Reception to Year 3 as part of the after school clubs that the school provides.

Each class will be an opportunity to:

• Develop social skills whilst improving their language acquisition.
• Stimulate their listening skills through music, rhythm and repetition.
• Enhance different types of intelligences at the same time in the learning process, such as: linguistic/musical/kinesthetic intelligence.
• Further develop their interpersonal skills whilst turn-taking and participating in games, singing, storytelling and fun activities.

Each class will have:

• Spanish input through songs which will build up vocabulary and common expressions in Spanish.
• Musical games that involve listening and taking turns as well as movement and repetition.
• Storytelling/poems and puppets selected according to the age group.
• A worksheet that will specifically show what has been learnt: a song, poem or specific vocabulary that students will have the chance to go back to whenever they want.
