Stage 4: 3 - 4 Years (Pre-School)

A fun, coach-led, structured pre-school gymnastics class helping children build confidence, independence and skills ready for Recreational Gymnastics.

What Children Will Do

Children will climb, balance, jump, roll, swing, travel, explore apparatus, complete circuits and enjoy themed gymnastics challenges

What Children Will Develop

Shooting Stars supports coordination, balance, strength, flexibility, confidence, listening, concentration, independence and social skills.

Awards Scheme

Our Pre-School Awards Scheme encourages gymnasts to develop their skills throughout the school year. Each term, children work towards around four key skills, which are assessed by their coach during lessons. At the end of the term, they receive a certificate and medal to recognise the skills they have achieved. The scheme is split into two stages: Pre-School Level and Level 1. Each level has Bronze, Silver and Gold awards, allowing every child to progress at their own pace while building confidence and developing their gymnastics ability. Gymnasts who complete Level 1 and then progress into our Reception classes will automatically move on to the Level 2 Awards Scheme, where they can continue developing their skills and working towards further achievements.

Parent / Carer Involvement

Parents and carers stay close to support and encourage, while children begin listening to coaches and trying activities more independently.

Class Style

A structured, coach-led class using circuits, themed movement, skill stations and playful challenges to develop early gymnastics skills.

Progression / Next Step

Children build the confidence, listening and movement skills needed to progress towards school-age Recreational Gymnastics classes.

Good to Know

Children should wear comfortable clothing that allows free movement, with bare feet recommended for this class.

Children require British Gymnastics Membership.
