SAWUBONA CIC

Sawubona CIC is a Community Interest Company founded by Dr. Alria Williams

What Sawubona CIC says

Sawubona is a Zulu greeting that means "we see you" and this is at the heart of everything we do.

Sawubona CIC was founded by Dr. Alria Williams, a Clinical Psychologist and CBT Therapist, after years of working with mothers in clinical settings and noticing the same thing over and over, women who were not unwell, but unseen. Mothers who had lost sight of themselves in the transition to parenthood and had nowhere to land.

Mamas Circle is our flagship programme. A free, twice-monthly online peer support circle where mothers come together to talk honestly about the things that actually matter: identity, ambition, relationships, culture, exhaustion and joy. Clinically informed and community-led, it is a space where you do not have to explain yourself or perform wellness. You just have to show up.

Since launching six months ago, Mamas Circle has welcomed over 120 mothers and built a community of 400 members. Our sessions are facilitated by Dr. Alria Williams and draw on evidence-based psychological frameworks including ACT, CFT and matrescence theory, but they never feel clinical. They feel like being in a room with women who get it.

Mamas Circle London on 16th May is our first ever in-person gathering. A morning of coffee, connection and creativity for mothers who are ready to meet their village face to face.
