THE SEASHELL GARDEN

The Seashell Garden runs calm, nature-based outdoor sessions for children aged 12 months to 4 years and their parents or carers.

Sessions take place at beautiful outdoor community venues in South Shields and Sunderland, and are designed to help little ones connect with the natural world through hands-on, sensory experiences. Activities include planting and growing, mud kitchen play, nature treasure hunts, sensory exploration, arts and crafts using natural materials, nature weaving, bug hunting and seasonal celebrations.

Every session is calm, unhurried and completely child-led. There are no screens, no rushing and no pressure - just little ones getting their hands dirty, discovering something wonderful and taking something home they made themselves.

Parents and carers stay throughout, making sessions a lovely opportunity to meet other local families in a relaxed, welcoming environment. We know that the early years of parenthood can feel overwhelming at times - The Seashell Garden is designed to be a place where both little ones and grown-ups can slow down, breathe and just enjoy being outside together.

All sessions are led by Ashleigh, founder of The Seashell Garden - Level 3 TA qualified, enhanced DBS checked, paediatric first aid trained and ICO registered.

Sessions run weekly in South Shields on Saturday mornings at NECA Community Garden, and from July 2026 on Wednesday mornings at the beautiful Hylton Castle in Sunderland.

Growing Bundles are available - 6 sessions plus a nature growing kit including seasonal plants, seeds, wool pots, compost and everything your little one needs to keep growing at home.
