Description
Midwife Holly offers calm, supportive, and evidence-based antenatal classes in St Albans, helping you feel informed, confident, and prepared for birth and early parenthood.
Led by a practising midwife, my sessions are designed to provide clear, honest guidance without overwhelm, creating a relaxed and supportive environment where you can ask questions and build confidence at your own pace.
My small group antenatal classes are carefully structured across two sessions and are best attended between 28–34 weeks of pregnancy. We cover all aspects of labour and birth, including the signs and stages of labour, coping techniques, pain relief options, and how to make informed decisions. We also explore induction of labour, interventions, instrumental births, and both planned and emergency caesarean birth, always in a balanced and reassuring way so you feel prepared for all possibilities.
Birth partners are fully included and supported, with practical guidance on how to provide meaningful support during labour and birth.
The second part of the course focuses on life with your newborn, including feeding your baby (breastfeeding, bottle feeding, expressing and mixed feeding), newborn behaviour, safe sleeping, nappy changing, and what to expect in the early days. We also talk openly about recovery after birth, both physically and emotionally.
Alongside group classes, I offer personalised 1:1 antenatal sessions, birth planning discussions, and postnatal birth reflections. These sessions provide a safe, supportive space to explore your options, talk through any concerns, or reflect on a previous birth experience.
My approach is always non-judgemental and inclusive, with a focus on helping you understand your options so you can feel confident in your choices, whatever path your birth takes.
