DEVELOP AND DISCOVER LTD

At Develop and Discover, we offer specialist, child-led sensory sessions for children and young people with additional needs, run by a SEND complex needs teacher.

Using a stage not age approach, we focus on regulation before expectation, creating a calm, predictable space where children feel safe to explore in their own way. There is no pressure to join in—because being in the room is participation.

Each session includes a gentle structure with a welcome, short guided sensory activities, and time for free exploration using resources such as water play, sensory sand and rice, music, movement and calming lighting.

We offer both:

• Sensory Seekers sessions – for children who need movement like spinning, bouncing and jumping

• Sensory Calm sessions – for those who prefer a quieter, more relaxed environment

Regulation equipment is always available, and we support a total communication approach so every child can express themselves in a way that feels right for them.

A space to feel safe, understood, and to simply be.

Sessions are kept small (maximum 10 children) to maintain a calm, supportive environment. An adult must attend with each child to support connection and co-regulation.
Please arrive on time, as early entry isn’t available and a gentle transition into the space is important for all children. A few days before your session, you will receive a photo of the venue set up exactly as your child will see it—this can really help reduce anxiety and support a smooth transition.
Shoes must be removed before entering the sensory space. Changing facilities, including a changing bed, are available.
You are encouraged to follow your child’s lead—observe, join in when invited, and enjoy the experience together in a safe, understanding environment.
